Which Criteria assessments do employers use?

Criteria Corp makes dozens of hiring tests, and its best known is the CCAT: 50 questions in 15 minutes. Employers also send the UCAT, a 20-minute test without words; the Criteria Basic Skills Test, 40 questions in 20 minutes; personality profiles of about 10 minutes; and short game-based tests. Your invitation names the test, and Criteria’s own pages give each one’s length.

Which Criteria tests measure aptitude?

CCAT Verbal, math and logic, and spatial reasoning 50 questions, 15 minutes
UCAT Aptitude without words, for any language 40 questions, 20 minutes

Which Criteria tests check basic or job skills?

The Criteria Basic Skills Test (CBST) checks grammar, spelling, math and language for entry-level jobs: 40 questions in 20 minutes. For mechanical roles, Criteria offers its Mechanical Reasoning Assessment, scored out of 30, and the Wiesen Test of Mechanical Aptitude, 60 questions in 30 minutes; the mechanical aptitude test page covers both. Criteria also lists computer literacy, English proficiency, typing, ten-key and Microsoft Office tests.

Which Criteria tests are about personality?

Test What it measures Length
Employee Personality Profile (EPP) 12 work traits based on the Big Five 140 items, about 10 minutes
Illustrait Job-related behaviors, adaptive About 10 minutes or less
Workplace Productivity Profile (WPP) Conscientiousness, honesty and related work attitudes 50 items, about 7 minutes
Sales Achievement Predictor (SalesAP) Sales-related traits 140 items

Personality tests have no right answers. Criteria’s game-based options are Cognify, GAME and Emotify, an emotional intelligence assessment.

How do you take a Criteria test?

The employer sends a link. Criteria says most of its tests work on any device, and you’ll be told in advance if one doesn’t; it recommends Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari. If you’re interrupted, you can usually return with your Event ID and pick up where you left off. Results go to the employer, and Criteria’s support team can’t see them or extend an expired link.

How can you practice for a Criteria test?

Criteria publishes short mini practice tests and says they don’t reflect the full difficulty. For timed aptitude tests like the CCAT and UCAT, the real challenge is pace, so practice full rounds on the same clock. For personality tests, Criteria’s advice is simply to answer honestly.

Is Practice Round connected to Criteria?

No. Practice Round isn’t affiliated with Criteria Corp. or PAR, Inc.

CCAT (Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test)

The CCAT, the Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test, has 50 questions and a 15-minute limit. The questions are verbal, math and logic, and spatial reasoning, and calculators aren’t allowed. Criteria says fewer than 1% of people answer all 50 and the average test taker gets 24 right. There’s no penalty for wrong answers, so it pays to answer every question you reach.

Mechanical aptitude test

A mechanical aptitude test measures how well you understand how everyday machines and physical forces work, not what you already know about a trade. The three most common are the Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test, 55 questions in 25 minutes; Ramsay’s Mechanical Aptitude Test, 36 questions in 20 minutes; and the Wiesen Test of Mechanical Aptitude, 60 questions in 30 minutes. Each uses pictures of gears, levers and tools.
