How is the PI Cognitive Assessment scored?
PI counts your correct answers; wrong answers and the number you attempted don’t matter. That raw score is converted to a scaled score between 100 and 450, compared with a general population average of 250. Employers also see verbal, numerical and abstract subscores, but PI says only the scaled score should be used for decisions, and it shows your result next to the target range the employer set for the job.
How fast do you need to work?
Fifty questions in 12 minutes is under 15 seconds each. Because there’s no penalty for wrong answers, answering quickly and moving on beats getting stuck. PI’s official sample keeps the same pace, so it’s a fair test of how the clock will feel.
How do you take the PI Cognitive Assessment?
The employer emails you a link. PI recommends a private network and the Chrome or Firefox browser. Each candidate gets a unique set of questions, and if you leave the test window, the screen blurs and copy and paste are blocked. Take it in one sitting somewhere you won’t be interrupted.
How can you practice for the PI Cognitive Assessment?
Take PI’s official sample first: 20 questions in 4 minutes 48 seconds. It shows which answers you got right, and PI says its questions don’t overlap with the real test’s pool. Then practice full 50-question rounds on a 12-minute clock, mixing verbal, numerical and abstract questions so switching between them stops costing you time.
Do you see your PI Cognitive score?
PI doesn’t say that candidates receive their score. It recommends that employers keep cognitive scores confidential and share how well a candidate fits the job instead.
How do you ask for extra time?
Tell the employer before you start. PI says candidates who request and qualify for an accommodation can be given 18 minutes (time and a half) or 24 minutes (double time). PI doesn’t recommend readers or scribes for this test.
